A July 4th Bursting With Fireworks & Fun
Looking for some fun ways to celebrate the 4th of July with family and friends this year? Here are some of our region’s notable fireworks displays. In addition to fireworks, most will have food, family activities, and music to enjoy as well!
Chesapeake
Annual South Norfolk July 4th Parade and Picnic in the Park
July 4 | 10AM-3PM
Lakeside Park
This celebration promises fun for the entire family with music, food, parade, and prizes. Parade begins at 10am and the park celebration starts at 11am. Kids activities include bubble play area, paddle boats, roving magician, face painting, and petting zoo. The event is pet-friendly.
Corolla, NC
Independence Day Celebration
July 4 | 5PM
Historic Corolla Park
Enjoy live music, fun family activities, and the largest fireworks show on the Outer Banks. Parking lots fill up early, so plan ahead.
Norfolk
4th of July Great American Picnic & Fireworks
July 4 | 5-10PM
Town Point Park, Downtown Norfolk Waterfront
Loads of picnic-style food vendors, music, and fireworks. This event is FREE. Fireworks over the Elizabeth River will begin at 9:30pm.
Newport News
4th Of July Stars In The Sky
Victory Landing Park
July 4 | 7-9:15PM
This event is extra fun for your kids!!! FREE kid’s inflatables (Moon bounces, obstacle courses), face painting, live music, food vendors. FREE light-up items will be given out during the event too! Fireworks over the James River at 9pm.
Virginia Beach
4th of July Celebration & Fireworks
July 4 | 6-10PM
Mt Trashmore Park
Food trucks, live music, and a beautiful fireworks display at 9:30pm. Admission is FREE, and parking is $10. Parking lots and Edwin Drive will be closed once lots are full.
Stars & Stripes Celebration
July 4 | 7-11PM
Virginia Beach Oceanfront at 17th, 24th & 31st Street Parks
FREE performances at these park stages throughout the evening. From 8-9:30pm, the stage on the beach at 24th Street becomes the focal point for performances encompassing patriotic songs, Broadway standards, movie themes, and folk music. Fireworks over the ocean begin at 9:30pm.
