Best Places To Grab A Cuppa

International Coffee Day is October 1st, so it is especially appropriate now to share these favorite places to order a really good cup of coffee in Hampton Roads and Northeastern North Carolina. Plus, we have some great places to grab beans if you like to brew your own at home.

Cafe Stella

A family-operated coffee roaster and cafe serving coffee, specialty drinks, desserts, and bistro cuisine. Small batch roasted beans are available. Special dishes, and beautiful desserts are created on site by Stella and her team!

Mea Culpa Cafe

A ‘must try’ for local coffee aficionados. Mea Culpa’s fresh made fruit syrup and herb infused lattes are the stuff of dreams. This is the former Waffletina pop-up team, so many of their dishes feature delectable liege waffles.

Norfolk Coffee & Tea

Open since 1918, Norfolk Coffee & Tea roasts and packs daily to maintain fresh coffee bean flavors. Their store also features custom tea blends and spices.

Virginia Beach

17 Hands/Robin Simmons Bakery

Enjoy inventive espresso drinks along with fantastic baked goods made in the shop by Robin and her staff. 17 Hands is located in Kempsville.

Three Ships Coffee Roasters

Three Ships flagship shop and roasting headquarters is located in the ViBe Arts District of Virginia Beach, with another store located in the Hilltop area. They offer attention to detail and a deep love for coffee, and it shows.

Fathom Coffee

Great, great beans and brewing supplies.

Battle Grounds Coffeehouse & Grill

A cute little shop located in the Great Bridge area of Chesapeake on Battlefield Boulevard. Try their rosewater latte! The breakfast menu is a nice mixture of sweet and savory options.

Taxus Street Coffee

Taxus Street is a small batch, locally-owned coffee roaster working out of the Big Ugly Brewing Co. They value bold flavors and drinkability, so they source and roast their coffee for those qualities.

Peninsula & Williamsburg

Firehouse Coffee 1881

This coffee shop and cafe is located in the historic 1881 Fire Station at Fort Monroe in Hampton. Their coffee and baked goods are locally sourced, and they make their sandwiches and salads on premises.

Column 15

The goal at Williamsburg’s Column 15 is to turn the Peninsula into a source of quality coffee, with nitro cold brew as their flagship product. Their beans are locally roasted and specially crafted to reduce bitterness.

Outer Banks, North Carolina

Treehouse Coffee Company

The Treehouse Coffee Company located along the tree-lined boardwalk in Duck focuses on putting coffee first with their certified baristas, state-of-the-art equipment, and emphasis on customer service. The Rope Ladder Kitchen provides wonderful light fare.

Morning View Coffee House

Morning View in Nags Head has a roasting room allowing them to keep fresh, small batch roasts on tap. Plus, it makes for a wonderful aroma in the comfortable dining area.

“What goes best with a cup of coffee?
