Shore Thing Independence Day Celebration & Fireworks Display: Norfolk

- Summer brings the return of the popular Friday after-work Ocean View event series. The Friday night themed parties and family fun and movie nights are a great way to start the weekend with live music, children’s activities, food, beverages and more!
Fourth of July Stars in the Sky: Newport News
July 4 @ 6:00 PM-9:15 PM (Fireworks begin at 9:00 PM)
- The Newport News Department of Parks & Recreation will present the “4th of July Stars in the Sky” on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at Victory Landing Park (50 25th St.). Be sure to grab your free light up give-away (while supplies last) on your way into the festival area, which will be full of patriotic spirit including children’s activities (inflatables, face painting and more), live musical performances and strolling entertainers in red, white and blue. Food vendors will be on site selling Independence Day family favorites including hamburgers, hot dogs, ribs, snow cones, ice cream, funnel cakes and so much more. Live music will also be provided on the main stage from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. and the night will culminate in a spectacular fireworks show by the international award-winning company Pyrotecnico, who will light up the sky with an amazing display of patriotic sights and sounds.
Stars & Stripes Celebration: Virginia Beach
July 4 @ 7:00 PM-11:00 PM (Fireworks begin at 9:30 PM)
- Virginia Beach’s ‘star-spangled’ salute will feature live music and events that culminate in a fireworks show. All performances are free! Shows will be featured at 17th Street Park, 24th Street Park, and Neptune’s Park on 31st Street from 7pm to 11pm, with the concert series to be announced. Fireworks will be shot from a barge and can be viewed from anywhere along the Oceanfront beach.
July 4th Celebration at Mount Trashmore: Virginia Beach
July 4 @ 8:00 PM-11:00 PM (Fireworks begin at 9:30 PM)
- Join the Independence Day celebration at Mount Trashmore, complete with food trucks, live music, and a beautiful fireworks display. The event begins at 8 pm with free admission and parking will be $10. Fireworks will begin at 9:30 pm. Note: Lots will be monitored by parking attendants and will close when full – Edwin Drive will be closed once parking lots are full.
Celebrating Independence Day in Yorktown: Yorktown
July 4 @ 8:00 AM-9:15 PM (Fireworks begin at 9:15 PM)
- It’s going to be an action-packed day full of excitement for the whole family. Watch the patriotic parade; participate in games and fun activities throughout the day; listen to festive music; watch the grand fireworks finale; and more!
Celebrate Freedom Festival: Chesapeake
July 4 @ 6:00 PM-10:00 PM (Fireworks begin at 9:30 PM)
- While this event is free, there will be a $5 on-site parking fee. Celebrate America’s Birthday with band concerts providing stirring patriotic sounds. Following the concerts, fireworks by Pyrotecnico will illuminate the dark sky after sunset.

Celebrate your Independence Day with a bang at the Avon Pier and Avon Beach Klub on Hatteras Island. The 4th of July celebration will feature a collection of events which includes corresponding radio shows on the island’s local station, Radio Hatteras FM 101.5 and 99.9, and an incredible front row view of the fireworks display from the pristine Cape Hatteras National Seashore beaches.

What better way to celebrate America’s independence than with free live music and a spectacular firework show on the northern Outer Banks?! The Currituck County Department of Travel & Tourism invites you to Historic Corolla Park for the annual Independence Day Celebration! Activities begin at 5:00pm and conclude with the largest fireworks show on the Outer Banks at dusk. Admission is free and free parking is available at the park until lots are full.
